About the treatment

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is based on the idea that areas of the feet correspond to different parts of the body. A reflexologist uses their thumbs and fingers to apply gentle pressure and movement across the feet, working through each area in turn.

You stay fully clothed apart from your shoes and socks, so it suits people who want to unwind but would rather not have a massage. Many people find reflexology deeply relaxing, and some drift off to sleep.

At Soma, foot reflexology is offered by Safiya Waley of Pure Restore, whose treatments focus on relaxation, balance and feeling restored.

Questions

Questions about Reflexology

Does reflexology hurt?
It should not. Some areas may feel more tender than others, and you can always ask for lighter pressure.
What do people have reflexology for?
Most people come to reflexology to relax, rest and feel more balanced. It is a complementary therapy, so it does not replace medical care, and your reflexologist will not diagnose medical conditions.
Can I have reflexology when pregnant?
Some reflexologists offer treatments during pregnancy and some prefer not to in the early weeks. Check with your practitioner before booking.
Do I need to undress?
No. You only take off your shoes and socks.
