About the treatment
What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractors are regulated healthcare professionals who assess and treat problems with the bones, joints and muscles, particularly the spine. In the UK, every chiropractor must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
A first appointment usually includes a detailed conversation about your health and symptoms, followed by an examination of your posture, movement and joints. If chiropractic care is suitable, your chiropractor will explain what they have found and agree a plan with you. If it is not, they will suggest who might be better placed to help.
At Soma, chiropractic care is offered on Fridays by Mark Owers, a registered chiropractor (BSc (Hons) DC, MMCA).

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with a chiropractor without a referral.
Is chiropractic treatment painful?
Most people find treatment comfortable. Adjustments are usually quick and gentle, and your chiropractor will explain each step and check you are happy before they begin.
How many appointments will I need?
It depends on your concern and how you respond to treatment. Your chiropractor will discuss a plan with you after your first assessment.
Is chiropractic care regulated?
Yes. Chiropractic is a regulated profession in the UK, and all chiropractors must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
